05. Assessment

Assessment

Assessment will be based on the following components:

  1. Attendance at, and participation in, class meetings. This is a hurdle requirement: you cannot pass the course without satisfying it. Three (3) unexplained absences, or persistent gross late arrival in class, may lead to a grade of F.
  2. Regular weekly progress posts on your individual class website. (30% of final grade)
  3.  Mid-semester projects report (35% of final grade) – due Sunday, March 22
  4. End-of-semester projects report (35% of final grade) – due Tuesday May 5.

  • Please read the guide to statistical report writing before carrying out any analysis or beginning any writing.
  • Please email each completed project, as a PDF, to the instructor by the due date:
    • Assignments submitted after the due date will not be accepted, unless a clear case of illness or family emergency prevented submission on  time.
    • Even if your assignment is not complete by the due date, please upload it in time to your class website.
    • All mid-semester assignments submitted on time will be given feedback and may be re-submitted for an improved grade

Please bear in mind that when applying for jobs,  students are often asked for examples of their project work and writing.

Taking great care over, and pride in, your work this semester, and learning to wrote informative, clear reports, can be a decisive factor in getting a job you want.
